Oostende is my favorite city

So I got lost in Ghent and couldn't find a hostel/the manager of the hostel I made reservations at gave it away. So I got on the train and decided to go where ever it took me. There where two more stops, Brugges and Oostende. I was asleep when the train went through Brugges so I came to Oostende on accident- but it may have been the best accident of the trip. I absolutely love it here. Oostende is situated on the coast of Belgium and is one of the most beautiful cities I've been too. It's a bit touristy, but I like that, it kind of reminds me of Traverse City. The hostel I'm is less than a kilometer away

from the ocean and there is nothing more refreshing than waking up and getting a facefull of crisp ocean air and nothing more relaxing than going to sleep (albeit it is in a hostel bed) to the sound of the lazy waves crashing upon the shore. Above is a picture of a memorial for sailors whom have died at sea. I could stay here for the rest of my trip, I think. I got here yesterday planning on only spending one night here and then going to Luxumbourg in the morning, but as soon as I stepped off the train station, (which is literally on the ocean) I fell in love with Oostende and decided that I had to stay longer, the only thing keeping me from staying more than two days is a reservation at a famous Hostel in Munich on the 12th. I met a guy named Eugene Lopez-Ano who just graduated from LSU (it only took him 7 hears he joked to me) and is traveling Europe for 5 months gathering material for a book he plans on writing. I felt as if I could have been sharing a room in a hostel with a future Bill Bryson and it made me realize why people do what we are doing. I've only been in Europe for a few days, but I've already learned so much. Observing the other cultures is extremely interesting and, as I document it on my video camera (still trying to find the time to stop seeing the sights and upload the footage), it only further instills in me that studying film and anthropology is what I want to do.
